One note -- it might just be me, but I totally missed the fact in all my research and all the time I spent on the website and ordering, that the umbrella ships with its own extender pole. as a result, I purchased a separate extender pole which I totally did not need, once I opened the package with the umbrella. Again perhaps is obvious to every online shopper except for me. But I definitely missed it and was sufficiently concerned about it that I ordered the extra pole that I now am stuck with. Unless I can return it without paying for return shipping and the restocking fee.

I had thought it would be a couple of feet lower, like my previous one, with a 9' width. I've gotten used to the height now, and like it fine. The beige color is nice, and I'm hoping the fabric, although not Sunbrella, will hold up well (I've only had this a few months). The crank works easily, although having to push a button to make it tilt is difficult for someone who is not tall, and it is heavy to straighten again. I preferred the mechanism I had before, where the umbrella tilted as you cranked it past a certain point. But I don't use the tilt feature often. The umbrella came sooner than expected, and customer service was responsive when I was contemplating returning such a tall umbrella. The price seems reasonable. All in all, I'm happy with this purchase.

I called to exchange it but was told it was too late. So we have a black umbrella with the bronze cast iron base & a brown patio set. It doesn't match very well. The metal or composit tilt piece snapped in half somehow making it impossible to tilt now. I asked them if they could send a replacement and they quickly tried to send me away it felt like, pushing me to look for nearest seller of Treasure Garden products. They made no effort to try and find a simple replacement piece for me. So now, I’m hoping to find a replacement pole but can’t seem to find it on their site and he’s no longer replying in an effort to locate one. So, the umbrella seemed to be a good deal, showed up on time, was of decent quality overall but clearly has an ultra cheap tilt piece and the customer service was not so good. I can’t give them 5 stars unfortunately but I’m not upset either...just disappointed in their effort to help in any way whatsoever. I won’t know how good the rest of the product is until time shows.

It is easy to open and tilt, although it is a little hard to straighten the umbrella once it’s tilted. My husband does it since he’s tall and can get better leverage. Shipping was originally scheduled for 2.5 months but it actually arrived in 3 weeks. I am really pleased with this umbrella and expect many years of shade from it.

The reason I'm giving this three stars is that I'm already seeing the fabric pockets wearing down where the umbrella spokes fit into. I'll have to keep monitoring the wear on the three spoke pockets to see if the spokes are going to break through completely.

I googled and Wirecutter recommended this umbrella as their top pick. I was not disappointed. You can tell the quality immediately with the crank - you cannot ‘overcrank’. Color was fabulous (bought ‘Spa’) and decided on the higher quality canvas - again very pleased. The extra ribs add some weight to the umbrella which makes me think it will be sturdier in potential wind gusts if up. Very pleased overall - took approximately 6 weeks to receive but worth the wait.

  • 3.0 out of 5.0     Disappointing for the investment Gay from  Brattleboro, VT 5-26-2020 Four years ago I did my research and bought this umbrella because of excellent reviews and because I didn’t want to go cheap and end up throwing an umbrella into the landfill every year. Due to the pandemic, the delivery of the umbrella took some time, but we were very happy with it upon its arrival. A year later, after the anniversary of the purchase date, but before the actual delivery date, the spring in the tilt mechanism sprang out and made it “untiltable”. I reported this to the company, but they were unwilling to replace the umbrella as they determined it was not within the warranty period. We Jerry-rigged a workaround, lived without “tilting”, but this summer, 2024, it’s finally not usable. I would have liked more for the money.

The tilt feature is nice but based on umbrella height, any moderate gust of wind can lift it up along with 100ib base. As long as you keep an eye on it in the wind it is a great buy.

The patio store in our area wanted me to wait for 6-8 weeks for a special order. I found exactly what we needed at Patio Living and had it within 2 weeks. I did call and talk to Patio Living to confirm a few things, and their customer service representative was very helpful. Will order more things from Patio Living!

I appreciate the improvement in the ball top as my previous umbrella’s top broke off when it fell and couldn’t be repaired. Color lasted 23 years. Never got mildewed and the mechanisms worked until the end when it flew 50 feet into a brick wall.

This one has been the best we have ever owned. We bought one last year in the aqua color and purchased another this year in the same color. The year old umbrella is still the same vibrant color. I did pair the umbrellas with a heavy duty stand I purchased elsewhere but the combo stay upright in the strong AZ winds we get.
